An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, senior citizens and Guests with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable.
By visiting Gem Mountain Gemstone Mine, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.
Please review any advisories or restrictions in place for travel to North Carolina, and do not travel or enter Gem Mountain Gemstone Mine unless you are free of any COVID-19 symptoms and otherwise comply with the requirements of such advisories and restrictions.
At this time, we do not require face coverings while on our properties. Our outdoor flume lines allow for ample social distancing and as an outdoor activity, have ample ventilation. Our flume lines are covered year-round and at this time they are not enclosed for the summer months. While inside of our buildings, we do not require face coverings. While Guests are on mine trips, we do not require face coverings. The mines are open and well ventilated. We do, however, require Guests to wear face coverings to and from the mine while in the van. This decision is made with careful consideration of all of our Guests that will be sharing the van in close proximity to drive to and from the mine.
Face covering requirements:
Face coverings are required for all Guests (ages 2 and up) and guides, including those who have received a COVID-19 vaccine. Please bring your own face coverings and wear them at all times, while inside the van. You may remove your face covering while actively eating or drinking, but you must put your face covering back on after.
All face coverings (whether disposable or reusable) must:
Be made with at least 2 layers of breathable material
Fully cover the nose and mouth and secure under the chin
Fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face
Be secured with ties or ear loops and allow the Guest to remain hands-free
At this time, based on guidance from health authorities, neck gaiters, open-chin triangle bandanas and face coverings containing valves, mesh material or holes of any kind are not acceptable face coverings.
Physical Barriers: Physical barriers have been added in select places where it is difficult to maintain strict physical distancing guidelines. These may be visible in areas around cash registers to help ensure proper distances between people.
Sanitization stations: We have added hand sanitizing stations around our facilities to provide a safer experience for our guests and employees.
