Opened in June of 1987, Gem Mountain Gemstone Mine has been providing family fun for over 35 years. Opened with a passion for gemstones and sharing Mitchell County’s heritage and history of gem mining, Charles and Kay have dedicated their lives to providing a unique and memorable getaway for all! We are all about providing a relaxing and fun atmosphere for you and your family to enjoy our beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.
Our philosophy is “come as a stranger and leave as family”. We are a family-owned business that is operated by family staff – we hope that our “togetherness” atmosphere here will make you feel even more at home.
Gem Mountain offers a variety of activities whether it be at our main property or at our mines! At the main property, you can find your treasures at the flume mine, have your treasures made into jewelry, and also shop around for just about anything you can think of at the general store! If you would like to take your experience “off-road,” we do offer guided mine trips to our private mines where you can dig your own!
